RESUME
Dr Tony Bagshaw
My professional experience over the past 35 years has resulted from my employment in three key areas:
- the mineral processing industry (Alcoa), where I held senior positions in management of R&D for the alumina refining sector and later into aluminium smelting;
- state government (Western Australia), where I spent periods in the Department of Resources Development, the Chemistry Centre (WA), the Department of Minerals & Energy and the Mineral Processing Laboratory, all in senior management roles; and
- research project brokerage (AMIRA International) where my Research Director role focussed on brokering and managing collaborative research projects in extractive metallurgy (especially hydrometallurgy) for the alumina, precious metals and base metals areas.
From November 2005 to June 2016 I operated my own consultancy, Chemical Systems Pty Ltd. I am now fully retired but active as a volunteer in a number of organisations including Scitech, WA's premier STEM education centre.
My academic qualifications (B A (Hons), M A & D Phil) were gained from Oxford University, England in the 1960s.
